She's So Bright - 6 Links to Brighten Your Week, April 8, 2018

It’s Monday, not quite spring, and we’re all in need of some rosy delights. Check out the following links I’ve chosen that will send you a little creative inspiration and happiness!

1. The combination of drones and light make for otherworldly landscapes.

2. A “Shazam for Nature” app for your phone will change the way you see the plants and animals around you.

3. Graphic Designer Annie Atkins shares what it’s like to design graphics for some of the most recognizable films in this podcast.

4. This new cafe in London is so quirky and colorful that I want to sidle up to the bar and live there.

5. Five houseplants that you’ll want to fill your home with (I think I need a Monstera stat!).

6. A storm on Jupiter makes the most beautiful, rosy abstract.

It seems that Jupiter and I share a favorite color palette, and while I’m always trying to figure out the names of local flowers I come across (I can’t even remember the flowers I plant outside!), I also need suggestions for indoor plants. And how about that interview with Atkins? I love how unexpected her start in the field was, her dilemma over hand-lettering Mendl’s box for Grand Budapest Hotel, and the mix of design, paper, and prop creation. It reminds me of the props I made for a few college plays – my favorite being custom newspapers I designed for a production of Chicago that felt like they made the pretend world complete.

And with that, I hope you have a great start to your week!
