Celebrating A New Kind of Valentine’s Day

She's So Bright - Pink and Fluffy in the Palais Royal

I’m trying to be as honest as possible on this blog, so I thought as it’s Valentine’s Day, I should talk a little bit about love. Self-love, more specifically, because boy, have I needed it. The last few days I’ve been running myself a little thin, and not giving my mind time to relax, and recharge at the end of the day. This always catches up with me, and rather than feeling energized and enthusiastic as I take on the morning, I simply feel behind and worn out.

So today, I’ve decided to be my own Valentine! While I’m not about to buy myself chocolates and write love letters (à la Clueless), I might treat myself to a rose scented bubble bath, or a nice soothing face mask. The plan is to take a few hours to relax and unplug from my computer and phone, which I’ve definitely been overusing the past week. There’s nothing more important than self-love and all the benefits that come with taking care of yourself, so while it’s a day of love for many couples, I’ll be nourishing my soul with some extra attention.

Whatever your plans, Happy Valentine’s Day! And if you find yourself free, might I suggest you join me in being your own Valentine? Who knows, we all might end up preferring it that way.
